Sold April 28, 2006 Auction

Ansonia mini-Ogee with alarm, ca. 1880. This nice clock measures 19" x 11.5" x 4". The 8-day, strike movement appears to be original and in working condition, but the alarm mechanism has been disconnected (easily repaired). The paper label is 100% complete. The metal dial may be original to the case and was nicely restored by the "Dial House" in 1998 (according to the label on the back of the dial). The pendulum bob is a replacement, but the glass tablet appears to be original and in good condition.

C & N Jerome Bristol, Conn., double decker with mirror front, ca. 1840. 8-day repeating rack time/strike weight-driven movement. The beautiful mahogany veneered case is pretty nice condition with some minor veneer chipping. The columns have had some restoration work done, and could benefit from professional restoration. The glasses appear to be original, and the ivory (or bone) escutcheons are present on the doors. The case likely had turned feet at on time, but they are now missing. The wooden dial is nice with some normal signs of wear and some stretching common to these old dials. The label is very clean. Height is 38". A very similar clock sold in the 2004 R O Schmitt auction for $775.00.

New Haven banjo wall clock in overall fine working condition. The wood case measures 36" high and 11" at its widest, with brass eagle finial and brass side arms. 8-day spring movement counts the hour and strikes the half-hour on a wire gong. The silvered dial is generally worn (though easily read), and the "4" and "5" show evidence of some paint retouching. The tablet and throat glasses are in excellent condition and appear to be original. The bezel glass looks to have been replaced as some soldering is evident on the bezel.

Junghans spring Vienna Regulator wall clock strikes hour and half hour on a wire gong. All original except new glass (top decorative piece may be replacement). Black Forest wall clock (ca. late 1800's) with intricately carving is in near perfect condition. There is a barely noticeable hairline crack (repaired) at the 8:00 position on the dial. Eight-day French movement strikes on a coiled gong.  Carved oak case is 19" wide by 27" tall, is hinged at top and lifts to reveal movement. This clock is working and keeping good time - a really handsome clock!
